Indeed, Osama is suddenly so guilty and so all-powerful that any other discussion of any other topic is a dangerous "distraction" from the fight against him. I believe that I understand the convenience of this late conversion. Recruiters in Michigan Fahrenheit 9/11 makes the following points about Bin Laden and about Afghanistan, and makes them in this order: 1) The Bin Laden family (if not exactly Osama himself) had a close if convoluted business relationship with the Bush family, through the Carlyle Group. 2) Saudi capital in general is a very large element of foreign investment in the United States. 3) The Unocal company in Texas had been willing to discuss a gas pipeline across Afghanistan with the Taliban, as had other vested interests.
Radio & TV Talk
But her tribe Zhan Hu wasn't strong enough and they tended to lose despite her efforts. She chose not to play mind games, and her A-type personality clashed with some other tribe members, especially Dave Cruser. So when rival tribe Fei Long kidnapped her two episodes ago, she became vulnerable. ("I got screwed in the switch," she said.) What's worse: Frosti, another kidnapped Zhan Hu member, accidentally spied the immunity Idol this past Thursday, protecting his survival for now. Lloyd could have survived if Zhan Hu had thrown the immunity challenge a second time this past Thursday, but they weren't sure if she was trustworthy once the two tribes merged. She hurt herself when she chose not to talk to Zhan Hu member Peih-Gee Law during the reward challenge. But overall, Lloyd told Buzz she had a good time despite the lack of food and sleep.

The training was conducted by two highly respected professionals in the field, Delwin Ferguson and Keith McKenzie who are both instructors with Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), and the training ran from Monday, 25 February to Saturday, 2 March 2008. The week’s activities were planned and organised by the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) team at Faith Hospital. East Is East
News, 02/03/08). Somalian elders claim that the attack was not as precise as planned, having killed in its wake at least four civilians (AFP, 03/03/08). All sides in the conflict seem to be united in one respect – silencing the media (Yahoo! News, 02/03/08). This week the government closed down three radio stations (Reporters Sans Frontiers, 02/03/08), consequently raiding offices and beating up journalists. Such events are not uncommon in the country where nine journalists in total have been killed and 50 have fled since February 2007 (Amnesty International, 02/03/08). Pohamba urges restraint (The Namibia, 03/03/08) Namibia's President Hifikepunye Pohamba asked supporters to refrain from violence as a heated bi-elections heave into view. The last round of elections were called off when the opposition objected to 54 names on the voters' roll.
GM, Chrysler post double-digit sales dips for February; Ford and ...
General Motors Corp. Chrysler LLC, Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc. today said their U.S. sales declined in February, while American Honda Motor Co. Inc. recorded a 5 percent gain. Chrysler and GM each posted double-digit declines -- in part, GM said, due to a tough comparison with a strong month last February. Chrysler reported sales of 150,093 units in the month, down 14 percent from 174,506 a year ago, despite positive demand for models such as the Dodge Caliber, Dodge Avenger and redesigned Jeep Patriot. .
Dollar Thrifty Hits a Big Pothole
The problems of the car rental business are deepening. On Feb. 4, Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group (DTG) shares plunged 35% after the firm nearly cutting in half its expectations for 2007 profits. Dollar Thrifty's news jolted the industry, raising worries that U.S. consumers are cutting back on their travel spending. Dollar Thrifty's larger rivals, Hertz Global Holdings (HTZ) and Avis Budget Group (CAR), at one point on Feb. 4 had fallen as much as 7% and almost 14% respectively. Fears of a recession add to the difficulties for car rental firms, already battling it out in a brutal business. The car rental industry's problems are similar to those of the airline industry, which has been notoriously tough on investors. Both are highly competitive industries with high fixed costs, so they find it tough to squeeze out profits on a regular basis.
May 2006
(The Euston group formally launched on May 26 in London. Several members have also written op-eds -- see here -- as part of the roll out. Norman Geras, a government professor at the University of Manchester, has been particularly insightful, including this piece in the Guardian: Within the large "middle" sector of left-liberal opinion opposed to the war there has been, from the start, a differentiating subdivision - between those who opposed the war without being in denial about the considerations on the other side of the argument, and those who precisely have been in denial about them. This latter group extends well beyond the far left. The signs of denial are abundant in the recent public life of the western democracies: in the banners and slogans for that Saturday on February 15 2003, from which one would never have known that Saddam's Iraq was a foul tyranny; in the numbers of those on the left unwilling to allow, many indeed unable to comprehend, why others of us supported a regime-change war; in a constant stream of comment in liberal daily papers and weeklies of the left; in the excommunications issued and more recent calls for apology or recantation; and, most seriously, in the perceptible lack of interest in initiatives of solidarity with the forces in Iraq battling for a democratic transformation of their country, part of a wider lack of enthusiasm for the success of this enterprise given its origins in a war led by George Bush.) Posted on April 17, 2006: Though it hasn't garnered much media attention, there has been an interesting fight brewing within the political Left.
