| MAS Freedom Mobilizing the Muslim Primary Vote
With upcoming primaries in Ohio and Texas, MAS Freedom also sponsored Town hall events in Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. The focus of these events was not only on the candidates, but also on mobilization efforts of getting Muslims to the polls. Currently MAS chapters in Ohio and Texas are operating as non-partisan call centers. They are calling Muslim voters and encouraging them to go to the polls and vote. MAS Dallas-Fort Worth, MAS-Houston, and MAS-Austin chapters had major events tied to primaries in their regions. Over two hundred attended the Dallas event to hear the candidates' views and to ask questions, and nearly 400 attended a Town hall meeting in Houston that included Democratic, Republican, and Green Party representatives and members of congress. "There is an excitement within our community about civic responsibility and politics that is unprecedented.

A renter's dilemma: Foreclosures can hit those who don't own
It happened to Shari Torigian of Patterson three times in three years. Cheryl Vrba of Los Banos said it happened to her four times in four years. It is happening now to Alexis Grijalza of Modesto and her three children. Renters are being forced out of houses every day in the Northern San Joaquin Valley after homeowners default on mortgages and lenders foreclose. The result often is financial hardship for renters who had no clue their shelter was in jeopardy. "It is stressful. Where are we going to stay now? We have three kids, and my baby was just born Oct. 3," lamented Grijalza, who recently learned the Vernon Avenue house she's been renting for more than a year was repossessed by lenders. The lenders insist she move, but Grijalza doesn't have a car or good credit.

Not because he doesn't want to talk. Magedson loves talking, especially when the subject is his beloved Web site. It's just that he's so incredibly particular. Arranging one simple meeting is an exercise that captures, perfectly, why Magedson is so good at getting results and why he's infuriated the CEOs of several midsize companies to the point that they accuse him, flatly, of extortion. He overthinks every detail. And it would never occur to him to stop pushing before he gets what he wants, even if he's not sure what that is. First there's where to meet. It has to be a public place. A dog park? A restaurant? Even after Magedson decides on lunch at Chompie's, he calls back with instructions about which bank of booths to pick. He's planning to park in the handicapped spot, he says, and from the right booth, he'll be able to keep an eye on his dog.
Testing home school students has merit
Home-schooling has never been about making sure those kids get a better education, its about keeping them from being exposed to ideas that might conflict with thier parents' narrow world-view. Without some kind of educational guidelines, I wonder how any reputable college or university would even consider accepting a home-schooled student. " .
Harry Redknapp backs James for 2010 World Cup
James is clearly relishing his new lease of life. "I’m loving it at the moment," he said. "I’m happy to contribute, but goals win games. It was a tough game and they were possibly the better side, but, saying that, their keeper has made some good saves himself, so we weren’t completely out of it." .
